Shipping
| Tamlin quality control focuses on ensuring that our materials arrive on site in original condition, protected from the elements, and shipped in the order that you need them for construction. House package materials are carefully inspected and packaged, then loaded onto trucks or vans for Canadian and USA orders, or sealed in containers for overseas shipments, and transported directly to the building site. Detailed documentation is included with every delivery. And if you want to record every phase of your project, we can even email you photos of your materials being loaded. Keeping you organized on site so you can concentrate on building is the purpose for our methodical process of handling materials and shipping. | ![]() |
Materials Quality Control and Preparation
Whether we are preparing a bag of galvanized nails, a prestained lift of cedar siding or a package of framing lumber, each item is carefully inspected, packaged, labeled, and documented.

Loading Report
Our in-house loading report contains all lengths, quantities, and specifications for all the materials in each house package. This report is linked directly to the Bill of Materials in our design department so every building component is accounted for. Our shipping department uses the detailed materials lists on the loading report to decide the most efficient way to package or load the thousands of items in your house package. A completed loading report is included with each shipment so you can check them upon arrival.

Loading and Crating at our Facility
Each package is carefully wrapped, crated, and numbered for easy identification on site. Smaller items that may get lost on site, such as door handles, are shipped later in well marked boxes. Doors and windows are shipped in strong wood crates for maximum protection. Loads are weighed and arranged to maximize the truck’s capacity, given road weight restrictions. Tamlin takes the time to load more efficiently so we save you in extra freight costs. We also check that the materials you need first for construction are delivered on the right truck, in the case of split shipments. When shipping long distances, the entire truck load is tarped. For many of our island projects, our experience in coordinating ferry, barge, and even helicopter shipments becomes invaluable.

Scheduling and Unloading
| For small houses we may be able to fit the entire house package on one large truck. For larger homes we often ship 2 or more truckloads. Each shipment is timed to arrive at the appropriate building stage when construction crews are ready. After the foundation has been poured and the site backfilled the first shipment is sent. For larger houses the first shipment usually contains the floor system (timber or logs), wall and roof framing. The next shipment often includes doors, windows, trim, and other finishing materials. The Tamlin loading report is used to confirm all materials when they arrive. | ![]() |
