Materials Specifications Sheet
Tamlin provides a detailed materials specification sheet with every house package quotation. To make construction terms easy to understand, every quote comes with a 3D house sketch that is used as a reference to confirm which items are included in the quotation so you know exactly what you’re getting. A typical specifications sheet includes an itemized list of the floor system, walls, doors, windows, roof system, casings, trim, stair system, and a comprehensive list of options such as interior doors, flooring, decks, railings, spindles, and prefinishing. Our materials package is designed to get you quickly to lock up stage.

Lumber - for floor system, walls, and roof system
At Tamlin, each house order receives the same care and attention, ensuring the best quality lumber is shipped with each package. For wall framing we provide solid wood studs rather than finger-jointed product. Our selection of SPF —spruce/pine/fir— is of premium quality and kiln dried to 19% or lower, offering the best long term stability. To help avoid construction setbacks, we also include enough spare material to finish the job without the delay of having to reorder material.

Engineered Lumber and Structural Components - for floor, walls, and roof systems
In locations where solid log or timbers are not required, we often recommend the use of engineered wood components to keep costs down as well as adhering to more green building guidelines.
These products include smooth or rustic glulaminated post and beams available in clear glue, so you don’t get those black lines in your beams. Other engineered products may include LVL (laminated veneer lumber), ganglam, parallam beams, engineered “I” joists for floor systems, engineered or premade roof trusses, and premade IBS bridging. We also supply custom engineered steel connections for many of the above products.

Doors
Our exterior doors are solid douglas fir and come standard with every house package; a quality statement right at your front entrance. We offer a selection of architectural doors with custom glass, grids, or sidelites. All doors are prehung in wood frames and include hinges, predrilled holes for handles, and doorknob hardware. For the interior, try our optional hemlock solid vertical grain wood doors. Factory prestaining and prepainting is also optional for all your doors and door jambs, not only to provide the highest quality finish, but to protect your doors before and after construction.

Windows
Our highest quality vinyl windows, with Low E and Argon Gas, are one of the top rated in the industry. They can be prepainted at the factory for years of maintenance free use. We also supply solid wood douglas fir or pine cladded windows, giving the inside of your home that beautiful, warm wood look and providing maintenance free protection outside; choices depend upon your architectural tastes and budget. We even supply matching solid douglas fir, pine, or western red cedar interior casings and exterior trim.

Materials Options ― Tamlin Understands Choice
We know construction and what will make building faster, better, and more efficient. Each project is unique and requires creativeness to recommend the most suitable materials package. Sometimes it pays to have your exterior siding prefinished, especially in the rainy season or to reduce on site labor costs. Sometimes manufacturing of frame wall panels may be the best solution to fast assembly or a remote location where site help is hard to find. Try getting the same factory finish for your main entry door if you are painting by hand during the dusty construction process. Tamlin has plenty of good options for you to choose.
